5 Field of the invention
The present invention relates to a device intended to prevent the appearance of hernias in ostomized patients, which is easily applied to patients who present or may present with a parastomal hernia.
Background of the invention
Parastomal hernia is an incisional hernia associated with stoma. In its development different factors are involved such as failures in the surgical technique, the
15 postoperative complications or the individual characteristics of the patient. It can develop in any stoma, although it is more frequent in colostomies and stomata of the terminal type.
It occurs in more than 50% of cases and only the
20 10-15% of them. The rest of the cases are approached with conservative measures: flexible collecting devices and compression garments and control of the peristomal area.
Devices for compression and clamping of hernias in 25 ostomized patients are already known.
The document, GB20080005056 "Ostomy pouch with handle" describes a handle attached to the front of the bag that facilitates the placement of the wafer on the stoma, followed by compression of the stoma and hernia, during a simple pressure with the palm
30 of the hand. The device is more intended for containment of the effluent and not for the prevention and control of parastomal hernia.
For its part, document AU2013354536 "An adaptable ostomy base plate" discloses an adaptable ostomy base plate comprising a flexible top film 35 at least one elastic adhesive disposed on the top film and at least one release liner of the motherboard that has at least a first section

Convex that can be inverted to a concave section that will be used for particularly demanding skin surface conditions, such as in ostomized patients suffering from hernia. This device does not effectively cover the raised need of the patient who presents or may present with parastomal hernia since it only protects the stoma area.
Document CN201790930 "multifunctional ostomy bag" describes a multifunctional ostomy bag capable of avoiding complications such as abdominal ostomy hernia, incisional hernia and the like. As the previous devices do not solve the problem, the device is intended for containment of the effluent.
The document GB20050017921 "Ostomy support garment" describes a garment that provides physical support for regions such as hernia, while allowing trouble-free access to the stoma. These types of garments are not supported by these patients because they are uncomfortable, finding many inconveniences in their use.
Document FR20090003257 "Abdominal wall´s hernia retaining device" describes a device that responds to the need for containment of the hernia in patients who have suffered a colostomy. This device, like the previous one placed directly on the ostomy area, compresses it and makes it more vulnerable to effluent leaks.
The document US20150088081 "Stoma Shield for ostomy patients", describes a device to cover a stoma, allowing greater maneuverability of the patient without having to cut the flow of the ostomy bag, its main function remains protective so that the need raised does not remain covered with this device, on the other hand the fixation system to the patient's body is not adequate and is uncomfortable since it can be easily moved from the ostomy area.
US20140276500 "Medical Device Method of Making And Using The Same" describes a device to cover a stoma just like the previous device, which has an improved fixation system to the patient's body and although it is configured to prevent or minimize the hernia, leaks and leaks, its main function is to be a system of protection of the ostomy area.

In none of the cases cited is it possible to effectively prevent the appearance and development of hernias in ostomized patients.
5 Description of the invention
The present invention aims to provide a device designed to solve the exposed problem, avoiding the appearance and development of a parastomal hernia in ostomized patients.
The device of the invention comprises two elements: an ostomy base, intended to rest on the abdominal wall on both sides of the stoma, housing the ostomy bag, and a fastening band with anatomical shape and suitable dimensions, easy to handle for the user, whose band is intended to serve as
15 means of fixing the ostomy base to a patient's body.
The ostomy base is composed of an elongated plate of a rigid nature, based on a sanitary compatible material, which is shaped longitudinally as a bridge, with a curved central section limited between two extreme sections
20 approximately flat and coplanar, which are thicker than the central section and can protrude from their external surface with respect to the convex surface of the central section.
According to a preferred embodiment, the extreme sections of the ostomy base go
25 endowed, for its internal surface, with a coating of an elastically compressible nature, to serve as fluffy supports on the patient's body.
According to another characteristic of the invention, the curved central section has through holes, preferably arranged in parallel alignments and close to one of
30 the curved edges of said central section.
Preferably the end sections of the ostomy base will be provided on its outer surface with a non-slip coating and preferably of adherent nature, for example of the "velcro" type.
35 As regards the fixing band, it will be flexible and elastic in nature and will be equipped with

its ends of means of mutual fixation, for example based on adherent coatings, such as "velcro" type. This band may be longitudinally curved, to facilitate its adaptation around the body of a patient.
Brief description of the drawings
To complement the description that is being made and in order to help a better understanding of the characteristics of the invention, an set of drawings is attached as an integral part of said description, where an illustrative and non-limiting nature is represented, an example is represented of realization and in which:
- Figure 1 is an external perspective view of an ostomy base, according to the invention.
- Figure 2 is an inside perspective of the same base.
- Figure 3 is an exploded view of the device of Figure 1, with the elements that compose it.
- Figure 4 shows in perspective the positioning of the ostomy base with respect to the fixation band.
- Figure 5 is a profile view of the fixation band and ostomy base.
- Figure 6 shows in front elevation the ostomy base.
Detailed description of one embodiment
Figures 1 to 3 show the ostomy base (1) that becomes part of the invention. This base is composed of a rigid elongated plate, which is longitudinally shaped as a bridge, by a curved central section (2), limited between approximately flat and coplanar end sections (3 and 4).
The central section has holes (5) that are distributed in parallel alignments and close to one of the edges of said section, coinciding with the position of the gas outlet valve and evacuation filter of an ostomy bag.
The extreme sections (3 and 4) are thicker than the central section (2) and externally form portions (6 and 7) that can protrude externally from the convex surface of the central section (2), as shown in Figure 5. On its inner surface these end sections (3 and 4) have internal coatings (8 and 9) applied as pads, based on an elastically compressible and soft contact material, for example silicone sponge type

biocompatible, which can be fixed on the surfaces of the end sections (3 and 4) by means of an adhesive.
The plate that forms the base (1) can be manufactured by injection molding, for example by a thermoplastic for sanitary use, which does not exhibit excessive retraction.
The portions (6 and 7) are provided with a non-slip external coating (10-11) and preferably of adherent type, for example of the "velcro" type.
Figures 4 and 5 show the fixing band (12) of a flexible and elastic nature, for example based on a textile neoprene, and preferably curved for easy adaptation to the perimeter of the user's body, on the basis of ostomy (1). This band will have fixing means at its ends, for example based on an external piece (13) of the type "velcro" and a compatible inner layer (14), which will also serve to absorb sweating and provide pleasant contact with The skin of the user.
With the constitution described, by arranging the fixing band (12) on the ostomy base (1), figure 7, between both components there is enough space (15) to allow the exit of gases through the holes (5) of said base, avoiding the concentration of gases on the peristomal area.
The outer covering (10-11) of the portions (3 and 4) allows a good fixation of the ostomy base by means of the fixing band (12), thanks to the inner layer (14) of said band.
The device of the invention allows an effective union between the elements that compose it. On the other hand, the particular design of the ostomy base will allow the ostomy area to be covered while it is going to be surrounded by the ostomy band providing a uniform pressure without compressing excessively on both sides of the ostomy. On the one hand, a better tolerance for the patient of the device and, above all, to avoid the appearance and development of parastomal hernia in this type of patients.
Another advantage of the device of the invention is that the stoma-bearing user will be able to place the device in a simple way, it will support the ostomy base in the base fixing band, on the side where the stoma is located, being attached to the band itself stably using "velcro". Once set it will surround

the whole band on the waist, also in a simple way, the set being adjusted on the waist of the user.
